I think that a good way to provide you with information about Personal Training is to give you some frequently asked questions and the answers I typically give.

FAQs

What are the benefits of Personal Training?

Accountability - Before I even give you an exercise to do, just having an appointment with me means that you are going to show up! And when you arrive, you don't have to worry about a thing, because I'm ready to take you through all the exercises.

Solutions - Your mind is filled with ideas about how you go about reaching your goals. I am able to prescribe to you the activities that will best help you reach them.

Results - You are going to show up, and you are going to be doing effective exercises. With a little dietary help, you will get the results you are looking for.

What does a Personal Training session look like?

1. The first thing we do is warm up. I often take you through just 3-5 minutes of cardio to get your blood pumping. Afterwards, we will go through some dynamic stretching exercises to prepare your muscles and joints for the exercise ahead.

2. Next, we will go through strength exercises. Typically, a beginner is most suited to some simple resistance machines that are easy to use. Someone who has experience with this prefers for me to take them through 'free weight' exercises. Those who play sports like for me to make their workouts 'sport specific' and we go through exercises tailored to improve your game, whatever it might be.

3. Lastly, I stretch you out. This is something that a lot of people see as a huge benefit of having me as their trainer. All you do is relax and I take you through the stretches. You'll feel very loose afterwards and over time your flexibility should really improve.

Where do we work out?

You may know me though the gym that I work out of, CourtHouse Plus in Vernon. Here you will sign up to membership at the gym and purchase Personal Training through them.

Or perhaps you are interested in me coming to your home. This is something that works really well for you as you don't even have to leave the house. I can recommend home equipment for you to buy, or I can work with equipment that you already have. I can bring some equipment to your home, but having your own is often a little more effective as there is only so much that I can transport around with me. If you have no idea what to buy, I will happily come with you to a fitness store and help you pick some things out.

What would you recommend?

In order to start to see results, you will need to work out 2-3 times a week for 12 weeks to really see a significant result. So 24 sessions, for 12 weeks is a really good place to start. Often, my clients continue to renew their packages and train with indefinitely. Other times, a person feels that I can be a 'jump start' and after our 12 weeks together, we reduce to perhaps 1 per week or every 2 weeks.

How much does it cost?

Typical Concerns and Solutions

This is going to be painful!

You are going to work out, but it will not be painful. I will push you only as hard as you want to be pushed and no matter how hard you are working, you will always be safe. I won't let you break good form and you will not get injured.

This might be humiliating

It absolutely will not be. I have worked with many different types of people, often including people who have never worked out before in their life. Together, we will reach your goals and you will not have anything to be embarrassed about.

I'm afraid of the big committment

It doesn't have to be a big one. You can pay for one session at a time. If you like it, you may want to buy more. If you don't, nothing has been lost.

It's too expensive

I cannot argue that it is a financial commitment. Myself, and CourtHouse Plus try to offer packages where the sessions are cheaper if you buy in bulk. And, when you buy in bulk we also try to help you with the burden by allowing you to pay in installments.
